I received my "11" orders after a very relaxing tour at U.S. Naval Facilities, Coos Head, Oregon, in 1962. I left the states via Port Hueneme and flew into Guam. 11 was supposed to go to the Philippines, but Typhoon Karen changed the minds of the powers of the Navy. We went in to clean up the mess, and after having served on Guam before Oregon, it was really messed up. I left the states as an EON2 and made EO1 enroute. On Guam I got switched to Charlie Co., I "worked" as the adjutant. Never did find out what that meant, except Goffer. I was in MCB11 through their deployment on Guam, and partially through their Okinawa deployment, before being transferred to MCAF, Okinawa. I have the cruise books from both deployments, and they're still fun to go through at times. I was at Quang Tri with MCB10 after MCB11 was there, also.
