I did boot camp at Great Lakes and then went to builders school in Port Hueneme, CA. From there I went to Guam where MCB 10 was being formed. Served at Guam for 18 months doing all aspects of the building trade. In 1954 I joined MCB 11 in Subic Bay PI. MCB 11 came back to the states and we went to Kodiak, Alaska. From there to Kwajalein until I was discharged as a BU2 in April 1956. I got married and took over the farm and did some carpenter and concrete work. We raised five children and have 13 grandchildren. I am currently on the Board of Directors of a fire insurance company. |
