Served with MCB 11 from 1965 to
1969, joined the battalion as an EO1 and left as an EOC. I joined MCB 11 as an EO1 in May 1965 while they were on Okinawa. Just before departing for Danang I was promoted to EOC. I was in charge of the covered storage site preparation. In Dong Ha I was in charge of the crew that maintained a 40 mile segment of Highway One. In 1968 I served as AOIC of Seabee Team 1111 in Thungsong Thailand. After returning to Port Hueneme, I met my wife (Donna) and we were married in April 1969. leaving In June 1969 I transferred to Naval Schools of Construction, Port Hueneme Where I served a three year tour at the Equipment Operators school as an instructor for advanced earthmoving operations in Rose Valley. Then I went to Taipei Taiwan for three years where I served as the transportation operations Chief. After Taiwan I returned to EO school where I was promoted to Senior Chief and served as the Director of the school. I finished up my 26 year career with a one year tour on Diego Garcia where I served as the Leading Chief of the Public Works department. Upon retirement from the Navy in October 1979 I began working for a Government Services Contractor as a consultant to the Navy on amphibious operations. Went to school at night eventually earning a Masters Degree in Organizational Management. When the contract ran out I was selected to work in a newly formed office where we supported the Air Force in their space programs. I worked as a logistician on all of the Star Wars programs during President Reagan's years. I am still employed part time working on the Global Positioning Program where I develop web pages and databases for the Air Force. |
