Alan Coon
I served with MCB Eleven
from September 1966 through December 1968. I joined the Battalion from UT A
school at Camp Adnair in Danang in 1966. I also served in Dong Ha in 1967, and
Quang Tri in 1968. I served in many capacities such as a field UT on the
pipeline between Quang Tri and Hue, installed refrigeration at Dong Ha FLSU,
served in the Central Tool Room at Dong Ha, and Security Company in Quang Tri.
After the service I came home and served a five year apprenticeship in the
local plumbers union, became a journeyman for eighteen years, before I became
sick. I worked in IBM doing installations for them on some of their special
equipment. I have had (2) heart transplants, one l987 and the other in 1993 and
am still going strong. I have a lovely wife named Patricia, been married 23
years and a daughter named Allyson who is attending Northeastern University in
Boston, MA. I am active in community work especially if it concerns veterans,
Life member of American Legion, V.F.W., and the SVA. I was made Dutchess County
Legionnaire of the year 2003 for my work on behalf of the Veterans.
