Gerald (Jerry) Smith
 


1967

I joined MCB 11 in DaNang as a SK-2 in 1966 and served a second tour in Dong HA. After a 3 year absence, I joined the Naval Reserves in November 1971. I received my A.A. in 1972 and B.A. in 1974. I went to Naval OCS and was commissioned as an Ensign in December 1974. I then joined  3rd ANGLICO  in 1975. In 1985, I went to Marine Airborne Training in Lake Hurst, N.J., at the age of 39, I received my jump wings and was assigned as an Airborne Forward Observer. I held the XO, and CO positions with 3rd ANGLICO and was called up for the Gulf War in December 1990. I served with the Second Marine Division calling in air, naval, rocket and artillery assets on Iraqi troop concentrations. I retired from as a Lt. CMDR in October 1993. I am currently working for the city of Riverside, CA as a building inspector.
