George Willis Freeman
February 13, 1926 - July 9, 2004
George Willis Freeman was born on February 13, 1926 in Dover, Arkansas and passed away on July 9, 2004 in Merced, California. He was 78.
Mr. Freeman worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the United States Navy from 19431968. During his military career, he enjoyed engineering roads and surveying. He was a member of the Merced County V.F.W., Merced American Legion Post 83, and the Disabled Veterans. He was also a member of the Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church. He also served as the pastor of the Arkansas Booger Hollow Tabernacle, and the Royal Rangers Youth Leader. Mr. Freeman enjoyed going deep sea fishing, scuba diving, and swimming. He also loved good food, especially his wife's canning. He enjoyed farming, preaching , and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Netty Freeman in 2003, and sister Lucille Kinsey.
He is survived by his sons, George William Freeman of Colorado, Roy Albert Freeman of Modesto, and Ray Anthony Freeman of Mariposa; daughters, Mary Ellen Williams of Pheonix, Arizona, Abigail Rose Mounce of Merced, and Patrisha "Patsy" Ann Belcher of Merced; brother, Gaylon Lee Freeman of Texas; sisters, Jewell C. Hicks of Stockton, Aletha Hebert of Louisiana, and Sherry Rosignal of Livingston, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
