Retired U.S. Navy Chief Warrant Officer Walter Edmund Killian, 85, of Simi Valley passed away January 19, 2007, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease, at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
    He was born November 6, 1921, in Fairmont, West Virginia and was a Ventura County resident for 40 years.
    Walter served 20 years at the Port Hueneme Navy base. He worked for 15 years for the county of Ventura and the city of Simi Valley as a building inspector before retiring.
    He loved to oil paint and worked on model railroad trains. He was a member of the Ronald Reagan Foundation and Retired Military Officers Association. In his younger years, he enjoyed outdoor family barbecues and treating his family and friends to his special barbecue sauces.
    Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Killian, who passed away in 1999.
    He is survived by daughter, Linda Quesinberry of Simi Valley; sons, Walter (wife Marilyn) Killian of Simi Valley and Fredrick Killian of Palm Springs; sister-in-law, Eileen Collier of Palm Springs; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and one nephew.
    A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan 25, at Cornerstone Community Church, 2080 Winifred St., Simi Valley, with Pat McCoy officiating and a military honor guard from the Port Hueneme base. Burial will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatworth.
    Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Disabled Veterans Association in his name.
